UV tattoos are banned: here’s what you need to know
You may have seen them before: tattoos that glow under blacklight. These so-called UV tattoos were popular for their striking and mysterious appearance. But did you know that getting this type of tattoo has recently been banned in the Netherlands and across the rest of the EU?
The reason? Special UV inks often contain fluorescent substances whose safety cannot be guaranteed. Under the European Union’s updated REACH regulations, many of these substances are now prohibited due to potential health risks. These may include allergic reactions, skin issues, or other harmful effects.
As a professional tattoo studio, Angel and Demon only works with approved, safe inks. We closely follow regulations and no longer offer UV tattoos—your health always comes first. If you’re considering a tattoo with a unique effect, we’re happy to help you explore safe, creative alternatives that are just as distinctive.
